Child Safety Standards
Last updated: 11 October 2026
Socco is an adults-only app. These are our published standards against child sexual abuse and exploitation (CSAE), including child sexual abuse material (CSAM). They apply to everyone who uses Socco, with no exceptions and no tolerance.
Socco is 18+ only
You must be 18 or over to use Socco. We ask for your date of birth when you sign up and refuse accounts for anyone under 18. Socco is rated 18+ on both the App Store and Google Play, and we have asked Google Play to block users it has determined to be minors from downloading the app.
Every account on Socco is verified before it can host or join anything — with a work email, with LinkedIn, with an invite code from someone already on Socco, or by review from our team. This is a meaningful barrier: Socco is not an app a child can sign up to anonymously.
If we find an account belongs to someone under 18, we remove it.
What is prohibited
The following are banned outright, result in immediate and permanent removal from Socco, and are reported to the relevant authorities:
- Child sexual abuse material (CSAM) in any form — images, video, text, links, or descriptions
- Sexualising, grooming, soliciting, or attempting to meet a minor
- Sextortion, or threatening to share intimate material of a minor
- Trafficking, or facilitating the trafficking, of a minor
- Advertising, requesting, trading, or linking to any of the above
- Any attempt to use Socco to make contact with a minor
This applies everywhere on Socco: profiles, hangout titles and descriptions, photos, group chats, and shared locations.
How to report
In the app. Every profile and every hangout has a Report option, and every group chat lets you report a person in it. When you report someone from a chat, a copy of their recent messages is attached automatically, so there is evidence to act on even after the chat is deleted.
By email. Write to hello@socco.in with the word CHILD SAFETY in the subject line. Reports sent this way are prioritised ahead of everything else.
You do not need to be certain. If something feels wrong, report it and let us look.
How we respond
Reports concerning child safety are reviewed by a person, not an automated system, and are treated as the highest priority in our queue. We aim to act within 24 hours.
Where a report is substantiated, we:
- Remove the content immediately
- Permanently ban the account and preserve the evidence
- Report the matter to the appropriate authorities, with the evidence we hold
- Take reasonable steps to prevent the same person returning
We preserve records relating to a child safety report even after the account is removed and even after the related chat has expired, because they may be needed by an investigation.
Legal compliance
Socco operates in India and complies with Indian law, including the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act, 2012 (POCSO), the Information Technology Act, 2000, and the Information Technology (Intermediary Guidelines and Digital Media Ethics Code) Rules, 2021.
Where we become aware of CSAM or any CSAE offence, we report it to the appropriate authority. In India that includes the National Cyber Crime Reporting Portal at cybercrime.gov.in. We cooperate fully with lawful requests from law enforcement.
Members of the public can also report directly at cybercrime.gov.in or by calling the national cybercrime helpline on 1930. Reporting to us does not prevent you from reporting to the authorities, and you should not wait for us if a child is in immediate danger.
Point of contact
Our designated point of contact for child safety, including questions from regulators, law enforcement, and platform partners about our CSAE prevention practices, is:
