If you feel unsafe right now
Use the SOS button in the app — it shares your live location and plan details with your trusted contacts. If you are in immediate danger, call the emergency services first: 112 in India. Police: 100. Women's helpline: 1091. Then tell us what happened so we can act on the account involved.
Reporting someone
Every profile, plan and group chat has a Report option. Choose it, pick a reason, and add anything you want us to know. Reports are confidential — we never tell the other person who reported them. Serious reports can result in an account being suspended the same day, and we block the reported person from contacting you immediately.
Hosts are not penalised for a guest's behaviour. If a guest misbehaves, we act on that guest and on the member who vouched for them.
Delete your account and data
You can delete your Socco account and associated data at any time. There are two ways:
In the app
- Open Profile
- Tap Privacy & data
- Tap Delete my account and confirm
By email
Write to privacy@socco.in from the email address on your account, with the subject "Delete my account". We may ask you to confirm it's really you before we proceed.
What gets deleted
- Your profile, name, photo, date of birth, gender, interests and areas
- Your login credentials and the email address linked to your account
- The hash of your work email and your company's domain
- Plans you created that have not yet happened (guests are notified)
- Your messages in plan group chats
- Photos you uploaded
- Your trusted contacts and notification settings
What we keep, and for how long
- Safety records — if there is an unresolved report about you, or your account was banned, we keep a minimal record (including a hashed identifier) for up to 24 months, so that a banned person cannot simply return under a new account. This protects other members.
- Records we must keep by law — for example transaction records for tax purposes, kept for the period the law requires.
- Anonymised statistics that can no longer identify you.
Everything else is removed from our live systems within 30 days, and from backups within 90 days. We'll email you to confirm when it's done.
Request your data instead
If you'd rather have a copy of your data than delete it, email privacy@socco.in with the subject "Data access request". We'll send you a machine-readable export within 30 days.
Common questions
My work email was rejected. Why?
Socco only accepts employer domains. Personal addresses — Gmail, Yahoo, Outlook, Proton and similar — aren't accepted. If your company uses Google Workspace, use your company address (you@company.com), not your personal Gmail. We also don't accept government, banking, insurance or defence domains, because those employers usually forbid using work accounts for personal apps. If you believe your company domain was wrongly rejected, write to us.
I didn't get my verification code.
Check spam and any quarantine your company applies to external mail. Codes expire after a few minutes, so request a fresh one. Corporate mail filters are the usual culprit — if it keeps failing, write to us and we'll help.
I changed jobs. What now?
Open Profile and tap Changed jobs? — verify your new work email and you keep everything: your reliability record, your history, your crews. It takes about thirty seconds. Please don't create a second account; one account per person is enforced by phone number, and you'd just lose your history.
A host rejected my request. What did I do wrong?
Probably nothing. Popular plans fill quickly and hosts often have to turn people down for space. Hosts can see whether people tend to turn up, so attending the plans you join is the best way to get accepted more often.
Can I get my money back for a plan?
Money paid directly to a venue, restaurant or another member is between you and them — Socco isn't part of that transaction. If you paid Socco for something and want a refund, write to us and we'll look at it.
How do I stop notifications?
Open Profile, then Notifications, and adjust what you receive and how far away plans need to be. You can also turn notifications off entirely in your phone's settings.
