Community Guidelines
Last updated: 20 September 2026
Socco works because the people on it are decent to each other. These guidelines are the short, plain version of what that means. They form part of our Terms of Use, and breaking them can cost you your account.
The one rule behind all the others
Everyone here is a verified member — someone who works or studies nearby — who chose to spend an evening with strangers. Treat them the way you'd want to be treated on your first plan, when you didn't know anyone and weren't sure whether to come.
Be a real person
- Use your real first name and a recent photo of your actual face
- Be honest about your age, your work and why you're here
- One account per person. No second accounts, no accounts for anyone else
- Don't pretend to be someone you're not, including someone senior at a company
Turn up
A plan with four confirmed people and one who arrives is a bad evening for everyone. If you said you're coming, come. If you can't, cancel early enough for the host to fill your spot — don't just go quiet.
- Cancel as soon as you know, not on the way
- If you're running late, say so in the group chat
- Repeat no-shows lose access to popular plans
Host properly
- Only create plans you actually intend to hold
- Be accurate about the place, the time, the cost and what to expect
- Reply to requests. Leaving people waiting is worse than declining them
- If you cancel, tell your guests yourself
- Don't commit guests to costs you didn't tell them about up front
Respect people's boundaries
- No harassment, threats, stalking, or following someone after a plan
- No unwanted sexual attention, comments or advances
- "No" is a complete answer. Don't ask twice
- Don't contact someone outside Socco unless they've given you their details
- Don't share anyone's phone number, address, photos or messages outside the app
- If someone blocks you, that's the end of it
Socco is not a dating app
People do meet people, and that's fine. But plans are not dates, attendees haven't signed up to be approached romantically, and treating the app as a dating pool ruins it for everyone else. If a plan doesn't say it's for that, it isn't.
Keep it legal and keep it safe
- No illegal drugs, at plans or in chats
- Nobody under 18 at any plan, ever — including your own family
- If you drink at a plan — any plan, not just a night out — that's on you. Follow the legal drinking age of the state you're in: it's 25 in Delhi and Haryana and 21 in Uttar Pradesh, not 18. Socco doesn't supply alcohol and doesn't check this for you
- Don't drive after drinking. Use a cab and sort the car out tomorrow
- Don't pressure anyone to drink, and don't make a plan awkward for people who don't
- No weapons
Photos and recording
- Ask before photographing someone, and again before posting it
- If someone asks you to delete a photo of them, delete it
- Don't record or screenshot group chats to share elsewhere
- Never post anyone's photo on another platform without asking
Don't sell things
Socco isn't a marketplace or a lead list. No promotion, no recruiting, no MLM, no crypto, no "quick opportunity", no collecting contacts to pitch later. Hosts can't charge a fee for attending a plan — shared costs like a bill or a court booking are fine, profit isn't.
Money
- Never send money to another member
- Never share bank details, card numbers, UPI PINs or OTPs
- Settle shared costs in person or through the bill-split tool
- Anyone asking you for money on Socco is a scam. Report them
What we don't allow at all
These get you removed immediately, and reported to the police where appropriate:
- Sexual content involving minors, or any attempt to contact a minor
- Non-consensual intimate images, including morphed or AI-generated ones
- Threats of violence, or incitement to it
- Hate speech targeting caste, religion, gender, sexuality, disability, region or ethnicity
- Sexual assault or harassment at a plan
- Using Socco to find targets for fraud
What happens if someone breaks the rules
Report them — every profile, plan and chat has the option. Reports are confidential and we never tell the other person who reported them.
| What happened | What we usually do |
|---|---|
| First minor issue — a rude message, a late cancellation | A warning, and a note on the account |
| Repeat no-shows or cancellations | Reliability record drops; hosts see it and accept you less often |
| Harassment, unwanted advances, sharing someone's private details | Suspension, and usually permanent removal |
| Anything on the "not allowed at all" list | Immediate permanent ban, and referral to the police where appropriate |
| A guest you brought misbehaves | We act on the guest, and it counts against you as the person who vouched for them |
When we remove something you posted, we'll tell you what and why, and you can dispute it by writing to hello@socco.in. If you're not satisfied with how we handled a complaint, you can escalate to the Grievance Appellate Committee set up under India's IT Rules 2021.
If something serious happens
If you are in immediate danger, call 112 first. Then tell us at safety@socco.in so we can act on the account. See the Safety Centre for more.
These guidelines sit alongside our Terms of Use and Privacy Policy. Where they differ, the Terms govern.
